Thurton Ethical investments
Thurton Ethical Investments (Thurton EI) specialises in identifying, investing in, and supporting, early stage ethical businesses. To date this has covered five businesses in green energy, one in education, one in disaster relief and one in ethical PR. These businesses are at different stages of their development and offer a mix of revenue and capital gain: as such, they represent a diverse and relatively low risk portfolio. A brief summary of each business is provided under 'Companies'.
Thurton has created a coherent portfolio to help the companies grow and succeed. There are benefits to be gained by putting all these companies into a single portfolio: to improve the efficiency of management, improve the funding of the various businesses as they are all at different stages of development, to realize some efficiency savings (eg book keeping) and to improve ease of investment into the various opportunities.
In line with these investments, Thurton has made a commitment to adhere to the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and will be encouraging all its companies to do the same. As a first step in this, it has joined both the 2 Degrees Network and the new Cambridge Responsibility Forum to ensure that it remains up-to-date in both its thinking and its actions on CSR
